NAPOLEON BABY, are a post punk indie band based in Auckland, New Zealand. NAPOLEON BABY write with an angular perspective on life. The trio, borne two-thirds from the UK, a third from NZ have a heady concoction of anthems that speak to the injustices, irritations, and painful daily observations of life, blending searing honesty, razor-sharp social commentary and a ferocious sound.
NAPOLEON BABY released their debut album “Everybody’s Watching and Nobody Cares’ on July 4th. Written in a time when egomaniacs control the globe and charlatans use religion to influence the susceptible, ‘Everybody’s Watching and Nobody Cares’ is a compelling, angry, eclectic, and deeply human record about culture, progressiveness, idolising bad men, and not repeating the mistakes of the past. Influenced by genre-defiers like St. Vincent, Radiohead, QOTSA, and The Stooges, Napoleon Baby have shaped a distinctively lo-fi, purpose-driven indie sound that bites just as hard as it bleeds.
NAPOLEON BABY’s influences are broad and beautiful from iconic British bands like The Jam and Oasis, the rebellious spirit of American alt-rock legends like Violent Femmes and The Stooges and visionaries like Nina Simone, Jeff Buckley, The Everly Brothers and Thom Yorke - artists who effectively place the audience in the driving seat of the widescreen panorama of the art they create.
